This year marks the special anniversary of a partnership that has spanned a quarter of a century. For 25 years, Sold Out Events has been supporting Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and helping grow the ‘Aussie Champs’ into the iconic and world-class sporting event it is today.
When the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships kick off at Scarborough Beach in Western Australia on April 14, the Sold Out Events’ team will be working behind the scenes to make Australia’s largest sporting event (outside the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games) come to life.
Sold Out Events’ role at Aussies is multifaceted, and the team provide expert advice and support to SLSA for the logistical aspects of event delivery including:
- Event development, diversification and planning
- Site inspections
- Event ‘look and feel’ including signage and infrastructure
- Partner activation zone
The Australian Championships has continued to grow year on year, not just in terms of competitor numbers but spectators as well. Sold Out’s delivery has changed over time, particularly around infrastructure, equipment and signage styles and types.
There has also been a rapid change in the integrated technology, particularly in the sponsor activation zones. Historically, activations consisted of a simple prize giveaway but now there are free Wi-Fi areas, chill out zones with televisions and iPads, and interactive social media opportunities. It’s all about enhancing the spectator experience.
Being a long-standing partner of SLSA means continuity when it comes to reviewing and planning for the event. Aussie’s is now a yearlong event program that begins with a comprehensive debrief the week after the event concludes. Sold Out Events’ is always looking for ways to refine our event deliverables and enhance the experience for everyone.
With just weeks until the 2018 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships gets underway, the planning is complete and the Sold Out Events’ team is busily packing two 40ft shipping containers with equipment, infrastructure, signage and everything else needed to ensure this event is truly unforgettable.
