Sold Out National Event Management (Sold Out) celebrated a successful year of events with industry peers at the Australian Events Awards night held on the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday, 13 September 2017.
The Awards night celebrated the best of the best in the Australian Events Industry with Sold Out taking home the win in the “Best Community Event State or Territory” category for one territory and four states, including the ACT, SA, QLD, TAS and WA with the Australian Olympic Team Rio 2016 Welcome Home Celebrations. In addition, Sold Out was a finalist for Best New Event and Best Event Management Company.
“It is incredible to take home these awards and I’m so excited for all of our team’s hard work being recognised at the Australian Event Awards evening. It was a fantastic night celebrating with parts of our team and our industry peers and we’re looking forward to being a major partner again next year,” Sold Out CEO Thomas Staunton said.
“The Australian Event Awards highlight the work our team does and the finalist nominations as well as winning the best community event awards in five states and territories are a great recognition of our team’s work and a testament to our team’s ability. We are incredibly proud of everyone on the Sold Out team for all their hard work and dedication,” Thomas said about the team effort behind it all.

It was the second year that Sold Out entered the Awards and it was the second time in a row Sold Out was nominated as a company for outstanding achievement in events and a finalist for “Best Event Management Company”. In addition, Nitro Athletics 2017 was nominated as one of Australia’s best events and a finalist in the “Best New Event” category
Selected as 2017 Finalists by the Judging Panel through a rigorous reviewing process of hundreds of entries received from every state and territory and internationally, the panel determined that Sold Out, Nitro Athletics and the Australian Olympic Team National Welcome Home Celebrations in QLD, ACT, TAS, SA and WA were stand-out and hot contenders in this year’s Australian Event Awards.
“Especially the nomination in the best new event category for the second time in a row shows that we have the capability to bring new events alive. We also deliver engaging events to a broad market and it is great to see this being recognised in the finalist nominations and the Best Community Events Award,” Kim Voss, Sold Out Managing Director said.
Sold Out, who is a major partner of the 2017 Australian Event Awards, was also supporting partner of the ‘Best Charity and Cause-related events category’ at this year’s Awards. Winner of the ‘Sold Out National Event Management Best Charity or Cause-Related Event 2017’ was the ‘3rd International Conference on Asbestos Awareness and Management 2016’ by the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency.
The Sold Out Award presentation was one of the highlights of the night with Sold Out’s CEO Thomas Staunton providing a hilarious and charming delayed reaction after announcing that the winner of the category, Best Charity or Cause-Related Event, was Lala Land, continuing as seriously as ever, before bursting into laughter and high-fiving MC Cameron Daddo as one of the night’s unexpected moments hit home. On state or territory level, the ‘Sold Out National Event Management Best Charity or Cause-Related Event’ winners were Wharf4Ward 2016 by Sony Foundation in NSW, the Youngcare Simpson Desert Challenge 2017 in the NT, the World Environment Day Festival 2017 by the Sunshine Coast Environment Council in Queensland, La Dolce Italia Presents A Night With Susan Sarandon 2016 by Eventcepts in Victoria and the Hawaiian Ride for Youth 2017 by Youth Focus in WA.
Supporting this category was a natural fit given Sold Out’s strong sense of community and trust in social partnerships. We strongly believe in giving back and love creating and delivering these types of events for the positive impact they have. Now in its ninth year, the Awards are considered the most prestigious prize of its kind amongst industry leaders and event organisers and suppliers from around the nation. The winners were announced at a glamorous Awards Ceremony at The Events Centre in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland on 13 September 2017.
2016 Sold Out won the “Best New Event” with Water Polo by the Sea, the NSW and QLD State nomination for “Best Sport Event” with the Nutri-Grain Ironman Series and was a finalist for “Best Event Management Company” and “Young Achiever of the Year”.
The Awards Ceremony was followed by the Australian Event Symposium on 14 – 15 September – a gathering for the entire industry to learn, connect and get up to date with the newest in technology, production, creativity, audience engagement, entertainment and news.
