Phil Artley
Born in Hull, Yorkshire, with a northern English upbringing based firmly on rugby league, football and cricket, Phil has a Masters Degree in Systems Engineering from Loughborough University.
Phil’s early career building military aircraft gave way to developing his program management skills in the Marketing and IT functions within the financial services industry, during his 14 years working for American giant Capital One Bank. Phil is now the co-owner of a QLD based tech start-up Dappers Software. www.dappers.com.au
Phil has a passion for all things event- and sport-related and the opportunity to work on the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games was impossible to turn down, so he and his family moved to Australia in 2016 and have since made Gold Coast their home.
On the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Phil was the lead Program manager across the Sport, Medical and Anti-Doping functional areas and during the games performed Sports Operations roles on Rugby 7’s and Athletics as well as undertaking a key role in the Games Operations Centre.
Most recently Phil delivered Venue Operations at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games at the unique Smithfield venue, hosting Beach Volleyball, Basketball 3×3 and a major festival site. Outside of work, Phil’s rugby playing days are now over and he will be found watching his kids play netball, waterpolo, cricket, football or basketball (whilst dreaming that he was on a golf course).
