Sydney Mardi Gras Parade and Pride Month
SoldOut was SO proud to be a part of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade again, where we were on-site for one of the biggest annual events in Australia. What an incredible celebration of inclusivity and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community!
SoldOut Events provided a range of operational, logistical and production services for the pre-parade marshalling area, talent and greenroom fit-outs and the pre-parade staging area. We’re particularly grateful for being a part of the design and build of quiet and sensory rooms, providing spaces for people with hidden disabilities, and pioneering accessibility to major events in Australia. This is the first time such areas have been part of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, making the event even more inclusive.
As an LGBTQIA+ owned business, we’re so proud to be a part of this globally significant event that brings light to the importance of inclusivity and community, breaking down barriers and creating a space for everyone!
Bring on Sydney WorldPride 2023!
NSW Government Festival of Place - Open Streets Programme
Over three big weekends in May, we held three major community festivals across NSW – the Campsie Street Festival, the Fairfield and the Cabramatta Culinary Carnivals. These events were part of the NSW Government’s revitalisation and reactivation programme to encourage communities to connect and engage post-covid.
For these events, SoldOut worked closely with the local governments and key stakeholders, including working closely with urban design and placemaking strategy agency, ReActivate, on the Campsie Street Festival. Our role in these events covered everything from advisory and consultation, event design and creation, as well as operational delivery of the festivals; set-up, project management, stakeholder engagement, talent liaison and event management.
The events were highly successful and rewarding to be a part of, both for us and all attendees, which were significant. 150,000+ attendees over six days of events in total.
Well done to our SoldOut team, especially Joanne Khawaja as project manager for the Campsie Festival and Damien Ryan as project manager for the Culinary Carnivals.

Rugby Australia World Cup Rugby Launch across Australia
- 7 activations
- 5 states, 1 territory
- 6 cities - Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra x 2, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide
SoldOut Events worked collaboratively with our great friends at Gemba on the live activation concept which would attract public interaction and provide a backdrop for media coverage on the day, including live TV crosses, with SoldOut conceptualising and producing the eye-catching inflatable goal posts, in the style of the bid logo, as well as operationalising the activations for Australia’s newest major event.
SoldOut was so happy to provide logistical support, to see this campaign come to life again, at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games ‘Green & Gold Runway’ launch in Brisbane on 23 July 2022! Demonstrating the versatility, value and legacy of the original design concept, and quality of the activation elements produced by SoldOut for long-term use.
This was a great kick-off for Rugby Australia on the road to 2027 and 2029!
SO what’s happening in the SoldOut team?
Time To Think –
It is so important to create space to reconnect, let ideas fly and strengthen relationships, especially as the value of downtime and recharging with our peers and colleagues has been reinforced over the past 2 years.
Highlighting the importance of taking time out, often under-appreciated in the events industry, and because we’d just finished 31 projects in May, we understood we needed some rest and fun as a team. So our team escaped on a three-day retreat!
We took this valuable time to introduce new team members into the SoldOut family, and share SoldOut’s refreshed business strategy, vision and runway for the next 10 years. We also discussed the importance of our systems and processes, to underpin our unique planning structure that ensures our team’s capability to run multiple events simultaneously across the nation, smoothly and more seamlessly than anyone else!
We also set intentions and goals for personal, professional and organisational opportunities, because when our team have space in which they can think strategically, creatively and holistically about their careers, personal life and role in the organisation – they can be the most effective and support our clients!.
How do you set aside time for your team to connect and plan?
Team shout out
Well done Matt Cooper!
A huge shout-out to our Head of Major Events and Production, Matt Cooper who has been non-stop planning and delivering huge events across the country – not missing a beat through COVID.
Matt has been tirelessly working behind the scenes to support clients and major events, developing, implementing and facilitating complex COVID protocols, through an ever-changing environment.
Matt’s leadership working with key stakeholders has been a huge benefit to the design and planning of COVID safety protocols, which were fundamental to the success of so many events over the past 2 years, and often meant the difference between an event going ahead or not.
Thanks, Matt!
